Guess the Career: the football career guessing game
You get a footballer's career table with clubs, years, appearances and goals. Can you work out who it is before the 20 seconds run out?
How to play
- Read the career table. It looks like the career box on a Wikipedia player page: the years, the clubs, and the appearances and goals for each.
- Type a name. Suggestions appear as you type, matching both first names and surnames. Accents are not needed, so "Muller" matches "Müller".
- Beat the timer. You have 20 seconds per player. Leave the box empty and press Enter to skip.
- Build a streak. Every correct guess in a row adds to your streak. A wrong guess, a skip or a timeout ends it.
- Keep going. Players you have solved do not come back, so you can work towards completing whole leagues and climb the leaderboard.

Career data is compiled from Wikipedia. Players appear under the club they are listed with, and their full senior career is shown, including loans and earlier clubs.
Tips for better guesses
- Start with the years. The dates place the player in an era, and the clubs usually narrow it down quickly.
- Check goals against appearances. A high goals-to-games ratio points to a striker, and a very low one to a defender or goalkeeper.
- Look for loans. Rows marked with an arrow and "(loan)" show spells at other clubs, which are often the most distinctive clues.
- Notice reserve teams. Names like "II" or "B" are reserve sides, which show where a player came through as a youngster.
- Use the suggestions. If you only remember a surname, start typing it and pick from the list.

Fair leaderboards
Answers are checked on the server and are never sent to your browser. Scores, streaks and rankings are calculated by the server too, so the leaderboard reflects what players actually guessed.
